Igman, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) – Representatives of key beneficiary institutions, partners and donors gathered on 27 February 2026 on Igman for the 2nd Steering Committee Meeting of the Project “Strengthening the capacity and coordination of judiciary and law enforcement authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to effectively address corruption and organized crime”, funded by the Italian Development Cooperation (AICS + MAECI).

The meeting was inaugurated by representatives of the Embassy of Italy in Sarajevo, the Italian Ministry of Justice, AICS Tirana and the UNODC Regional Office for South-East Europe, who reiterated their continued commitment to supporting rule of law reforms and strengthening institutions across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Participants highlighted concrete examples of successful implementation and good practices achieved through cooperation with UNODC. They emphasized that the project’s support has significantly improved institutional efforts to counter corruption and organized crime, strengthened inter-institutional cooperation, and enhanced the management of confiscated assets. Key achievements include the support to the implementation of BiH Anti-Corruption Strategy, the operational support to the newly formed Special Prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption in FBiH (POSKOK), and capacity building and outreach work with the Federal Asset Management Agency, including the digital catalogue of confiscated assets, trainings on financial investigation and formalization of cooperation with prosecution offices.

The Government’s financial contribution to this work was particularly welcomed by the Steering Committee members, demonstrating a clear commitment to collective effort in the fight against corruption and organized crime.

UNODC presented a detailed overview of project implementation, including contextual, operational and financial aspects. This enabled a comprehensive monitoring of progress against planned activities. Special attention was given to the suggestions for the Project Document submitted by the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Counsil, which were unanimously adopted following constructive discussion, further ensuring efficient and coordinated project implementation.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of key recommendations and agreement on next steps, including preparations for the 3rd Steering Committee Meeting. The meeting reaffirmed strong coordination among partners, informed future planning, and confirmed a shared commitment to efficient and transparent project implementation.
