In July 2023, Letizia Fischioni assumed the role of Deputy Head of the AICS Office in Tirana, and since November 1, 2025, she is serving as Acting Head of the Office.

Biography

A Law graduate from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome and a Master’s Degree in Organization and Functioning of Public Administration from La Sapienza and LUISS Universities in Rome, she has over 18 years of experience in development cooperation.

From 2007 to 2015, she served at the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Office VI – Humanitarian Aid), providing legal assistance for emergency initiatives, participating in the negotiations of the “Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030” and the “32nd International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent,” and carrying out missions in various crisis contexts.

From 2016 to 2023, she worked at the AICS headquarters in Rome, holding various coordination roles (Responsible for Humanitarian Aid Procedures; Focal Point for Disaster Risk Prevention, Management, and Reduction; Responsible for International Humanitarian Law; PSEAH Responsible – Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment), providing legal assistance for bilateral and multilateral humanitarian aid interventions for AICS foreign offices, and managing and monitoring humanitarian initiatives in several sub-Saharan African countries at the Emergency and Fragile States Unit (January 2016 – February 2023).

From January 2021 to February 2023, she also collaborated with the EU Delegated Cooperation Unit for initiatives in Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan.

From February to July 2023, she served as Desk Officer for Northwest Africa at Office II – Geographic Planning and Coordination of Interventions, and also served as AICS Representative for the Practitioners’ Network.

In July 2023, she assumed the role of Deputy Head of the AICS Office in Tirana, and since November 1, 2025, she has also served as Acting Head of the Office.
