A handover ceremony took place this morning for five vehicles intended to strengthen the local waste collection and transportation service. The vehicles will be donated to the “VIDRAK” municipal company in Valjevo, the city’s primary municipal entity for urban sanitation services, for a total donation of €729,500.
The event is part of the initiative “Support to the Serbian economy through the supply of goods to five line ministries in Serbia,” known as the “Antonione Protocol.” This donation was made possible thanks to a contribution of nearly €13 million, a concrete expression of Italy’s commitment to supporting development, bilateral cooperation, and the strengthening of public services in Serbia.
The ceremony was attended by Letizia Fischioni, Acting Head of AICS Tirana, Serbian Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starović, and Luca Gori, Italian Ambassador to Belgrade.
In his remarks, Gori stated:
“This is not just about the delivery of equipment, but also about demonstrating that cooperation, when accompanied by institutional commitment, coordination skills, and a shared vision, can once again produce concrete results. The value of this delivery must also be seen in its more practical and everyday dimension: strengthening the local public waste collection service means improving urban hygiene, contributing to environmental protection, making operators’ work more efficient, and offering citizens better services.”
