Pogradec, June 11, 2025_With a ceremony at the Multifunctional Center of Pogradec, some results of the project “Lakes of Albania” – funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation and implemented by the italian civil society organizations COSV and VIS – have been presented to the local community: the booklet “Tales from the Legends of the Lake” and two videos aiming at encouraging responsible and inclusive tourism in Pogradec/Ohrid, entitled “Dare to join, or miss the fun” and “The Chestnut Trail”, already disseminated on social media and quickly became popular.
Protagonists of the event were the young people of Pogradec, who also took part in a performance with traditional costumes, also created as part of the project as tools for recovering identity elements.
Letizia Fischioni, AICS Tirana Deputy Head of Office, attended the ceremony along with Representatives of Bashkia of Pogradec (Faqe Zyrtare), COSV and VIS NGOs, and numerous partners and beneficiaries. During the offical remarks, Ms. Fischioni underlined the value of the project, focused on a tourism “that respects, enhances and protects, putting people, communities and the environment at the center, a driver of sustainable development. The lakes of Scutari and Pogradec are not only places of exceptional natural beauty – they are vital ecosystems, rich in biodiversity, as well as lands steeped in history, tradition and potential still unexpressed”.
