On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, the Albanian Minister of Health, Albana Koçiu, and the Head of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Office in Tirana, Stefania Vizzaccaro, inaugurated the new mobile blood donation unit, a tangible symbol of the project “RIPRESA – Ripartire attraverso l’Innovazione e la PREvenzione SAnitaria” implemented by the CSO COL’OR.
The initiative, co-funded by AICS for about 1,400,000 euros, represents the strengthening of the bonds between Italy and Albania through concrete actions aimed at improving the health and well-being of the population. RIPRESA is not just a name, but a promise of hope.
The mobile blood donation unit represents a key milestone in the goal of increasing the number of volunteer blood donors. Thanks to this vehicle, remote communities can be reached and ensure that blood donation becomes an accessible gesture for everyone, wherever they are.
The RIPRESA project is not limited to blood donation but embraces a broader vision of health prevention. Through screening activities for hepatitis B and other noncommunicable diseases, we are building a more robust healthcare system that can respond to the specific needs of each individual. The implementation of new technologies, such as the blood donors app, also demonstrates our commitment to innovation in the healthcare sector.
Every action of the project is designed with one goal in mind: to improve the quality of people’s lives. The training of new donors, the management of collection centers, awareness-raising activities in schools and religious communities, and advocacy initiatives to foster a culture of voluntary donation are all pieces of a mosaic aimed at a healthier future.
Health protection is one of AICS’ top priorities, and the RIPRESA project is an example of how international cooperation can make a difference.
