Cultural heritage and local community engagement in Bylis and Klos

Mallakaster, April 17, 2025_A 2-days of meetings and perspectives concluded today in Southern Albania, Municipality of Mallakaster, to present the community engagement actions and training proposals provided by the project “EU for economic development – ​​Tourism local economic development with a focus on cultural heritage”, funded by the European Union and AICS for a total budget of 6.25 million EUR.

In front of a large portion of local community, and in partnership with Emilia-Romagna Region and ART-ER, Italian partners of the project, the community mapping activities that will concern the Municipality of Mallakaster in the coming months were presented, involving the participants in group reflections on the resources of the territory. An upcoming training course for local tourist guides has been also presented during the workshop and it will be published soon.

Known as “Bylis and Klos”, according with the two involved archaeological parks, the project aims at preserving and restoring the remarkable archaeological heritage of the area, including a conservation plan and a significant improvement of touristic services through the set-up of a multifunctional center also for scientific purposes.
